Prime your eyelids. Eye primer is a product that you can apply to your eyelids before your eyeshadow to create a smooth, even base, and to help your eye makeup last longer. To apply eye primer, dispense a small amount onto your fingertips, and smooth it over your eyelids, blending it outwards. Allow the primer to dry for a few minutes before proceeding with the next step in your routine.
Apply eyeshadow. Eyeshadow is a pigmented powder that is used to add color to your eyelids and create a desired look. To apply eyeshadow, use an eyeshadow brush to dab a small amount of eyeshadow onto your eyelids, starting at the inner corner of your eye and working your way outwards. You can create a natural, everyday look by applying a neutral eyeshadow all over your lid, and then adding a deeper color to the crease of your eye to create depth and dimension. Alternatively, you can create a bold, dramatic look by applying a bright or dark eyeshadow all over your lid.
Line your upper lash line. Eyeliner is a product that is used to define and enhance the shape of your eyes. To line your upper lash line, use an eyeliner pencil, liquid liner, or gel liner to draw a line along your upper lashes, starting at the inner corner of your eye and working your way outwards. You can create a thin, natural-looking line, or a thicker, more dramatic line depending on your desired look. To help prevent smudging, you can apply a small amount of eyeshadow over your eyeliner to set it in place.
